Morgan Amanda Elizabeth McLeod , I am proud to say, is my daughter, kindred spirit and friend. She is a world class dancer, a great educator, a talented rockin' good drummer, ukelelist, dog whisperer, pianist and all round fantastic person.
I have been singing this song for years. The best element in music is humor--Mama , please give me some gold!
This is a cover of the great Stephane Grapelli and Django Reinhart's version of this wonderful classical melody from Tchaikovsky. The fantastically talented Milo Deering, Stalwart of the Dallas music scene, adds some really fine pedal steel guitar.
Dirje Smith has created a wonderfully artful and hilarious string accompaniment to this classic Brazilian tune (Is a brazilian more or less than a billion?) Cha Cha Cha!
Gordon: violin, Christy McLeod: guitar, Dirje Smith: cello
Like most swing fiddlers, this is the first Gypsy jazz tune I learned. I never get tired of it! Dirje rocks on the cello and Christy beats out a mean rhythm as always.
A bit of harmonic minor heresy!
Dave Lovrien--low whistle, Allison Hicks-Piano-Gordon McLeod--fiddles and guitar.
Sliabh Luachra Slides! Thanks to my friends from Sliabh Notes--Matt Cranitch, Donal Murphy and Tommy O'Sullivan for turning me on to this stuff! And to Clare Cason for teaching me the Denis Murphy classic, "The Weavers".
Pat Thurmond played a track of Kevin Burke playing this reel with Gerry O'Beirne on 12 string guitar accompaniment in 1993 and I was hooked! I had ot learn to make that sound!
Thanks to Mickey Dunne, fabulous uillean piper from Limerick and fine fiddler as well, for giving me the first tune, and to Kevin Burke for the second.
Paul Bradley and Siobhan Peoples taught me the last tune, James Kelly the first one, and Matt Cranitch the middle one. All extremely fine tunes!
Thanks to Clare Cason for the first tune, Donal Murphy for the second and Melanie Murphy for the third polka--all smashing tunes!
